Knitting Inspiration - Herringbone Stitch Video by Oversize Me

The other day I stumbled upon Oversize Me, a lovely French blog with beautiful photography, style, and snapshots of fun weekends. I was so excited to discover that the author, Jay, is also a fellow knitter. I spotted this post on the herringbone stitch, a stitch I've yet to try but always envied, along with an amazing video tutorial. I had to stretch my three semesters of beginners French to pick up the instructions, but I was so captivated by the stunning images that it basically spoke for itself. Even if you don't speak French, I think this video explains the stitch wonderfully. As you know, I am such a fan of baking videos that the idea of stunning, fiber-filled videos gets me really excited. I might have to try my hand at a knitting video one day too! :-)

What do you think? I've watched it so many times at this point...

It's just so lovely. :)

Now I'm inspired to try again!

  13. This video is great! I started a herringbone scarf last year (twice!) and had to frog (twice) because I couldn't join it correctly. I'll be trying my hand at it again after seeing this :)

  17. Oh my, how lovely! I love videos like that, too. It really saddens me that the herringbone stitch, while it looks so dazzling, takes so much longer to knit than other stitches. Where-as stitches like the color slip stitch take half the time to knit, this one takes twice the time... :( Maybe I'll get inspired enough someday to actually make something with it.

  18. Most definetly give the herringbone stitch a try!! I LOVE IT! It's a bit tricky to get, but once you do...you'll be in LOVE too! I'm currently dreaming of covering a chair I have with the herringbone stitch.

It was a it easier for me to understand... though admittedly it is not as pretty, but it's a little sassy haha, so I like it.

    Can't wait to try!
