Here's what I have planned...
- This baked strawberry doughnut recipe has been calling my name all week. I can't wait to give it a try tomorrow.
- The latest issue of Kinfolk arrived in the mail yesterday. I flipped through a few pages and I can tell a major ice cream craving is right around the corner...
- I started knitting this I'm-not-sure-what-it-is-yet project the other night out of stress and some leftover yarn from my granny square blanket. The pattern is double seed stitch and I love the texture.
- I have two ziploc bags filled with pom poms from the yarn party photo shoot last week. I am trying to think of a way to put them to good use. Hopefully I will think of a fun project this weekend!
- My giant granny square blanket is getting so big that it wouldn't fit in the regular 'Weekend Plans' pictures. Haha. 'Giant' is the perfect word to describe this blanket. I think I have about seven rounds left and it will be finished! I am so excited. However, I'm not sure how I will take pictures of the finished blanket...
That's about it! How was your week? Are you doing anything fun this weekend?
I hope you have a great Friday. :)

Ooooh baked strawberry doughnuts sound delicious. I love the pom poms! I'm kind of obsessed with making them these days! I hope you have a wonderful weekend! xox
ReplyDeleteLove double seed stitch.... can't wait to see what you decide to do with it! And so very glad it is Friday. I'm hoping for lots of knit/crochet time. Enjoy your weekend! ~Stephanie
ReplyDeleteYes! I got a donut pan at Savers a couple of weekends ago and this is on my to-do list for this weekend: http://www.shutterbean.com/2012/dark-chocolate-cake-doughnuts/
ReplyDeleteYum!
Oh oh! Tell me please, do you ordered the Kinfolk issue in the internet? I'm really interested to get copy for myself, but I'm living in Paris, and not sure how i can get one.
ReplyDeleteAnd about plans - in a beautiful le bon marche is a little soldes for Liberty cottons and yarns. So I'm taking my friend there for buying her first knitting needles and some yarns. She will create her first scarf and we both so excited!
Sounds like you're going to have a lovely weekend. Love the colours of your giant granny.
ReplyDeleteM xxxx
What a cool stitch, so pretty! I might have to attempt to try it. My friends and I are having a craft day tomorrow and I'm so excited!
ReplyDeleteI wish you a long weekend and lots of relaxing. I know exactly what you mean about trying to figure out how to photograph giant blankets, I make huge freeform blankets and getting good photographs of them is a real challenge! I recommend using trees to hold them up if it is sunny enough!
ReplyDeleteI love these weekend plans posts of yours, over here in Europe they come up around the time work is done for the week and they are such a nice way to take a minute and realize that the weekend has come :) Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more about this Friday. I had one heck of a week and am so, so, so overjoyed that Friday is finally here. Now if this snow would just melt...

Your blanket is looking so gorgeous!! In love with the colors you chose!
ReplyDeleteAnd those donuts look fantastic. yum yum yum.
Your blanket is lovely.I am starting a new project this weekend. A crochet shawl, The Alchemilla Shawl from The Crochet Project, an Online Publication.
ReplyDeleteCheck out my blog

What about a pom pom rug? All you need is rug canvas or burlap for the backing. Use yarn and a blunt needle to attach the pom poms to the backing. That's all there is to it. Unless you want to create a nice edging around the finished rug...
ReplyDeleteHow about a vertical pom-pom garland? No big plans for the weekend. I actually took time off to celebrate Passover on Monday so it's kind of the start of a long weekend for me. I hope to get plenty of sewing done.
ReplyDeleteStrawberry doughnuts sound amazing! I also love that lilac colored yarn! I have no plans this weekend just chilling.

I have the same 'how to photograph a big blanket' problem!! I'll let you know if I think of a solution, in the meantime have a lovely weekend

so much love :)
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty jealous of how your weekends always tend to include baking. And knitting. And colors. And tea! I need more of all those things in my life.
ReplyDeleteWaauw your granny blanket is really great! I'm jalous! Have no time for knitting or crochetting...
ReplyDeleteStrawberry doughnuts! OMG they sound yummy

Hi Meredith!
ReplyDeleteI am a brand spanking new knitter and just completed my first "beginners" hat project at my local yarn shop. Just want to say I stumbled on your site one night while trying to encourage/inspire myself. I'm a decent crocheter (working on the giant granny square too) but was desperate to learn to knit too. I love your site and visit daily for inspiration! Love it!

hi
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog and have to say it's so inspiring. Your crocheting projects are so nice and I love especially your category "weekend plan" as well as "what is in your yarn bag". (thats how I found your blog, cause I saw on emma lambs blog your interview with her). Your still life pictures of yarn, hooks and daily stuff are awesome; have to try photograph like this cause usually I've chaos when I am cI took photos of my crocheting stuff.
good way to decorate your pompoms is in a mobile in front of window f.e.
have a look:

I'm hoping that I'll have enough time and motivation this summer to embark on a big crochet blanket project like yours! As for the pom-poms, how about sewing them onto a simple tote a la Hansel from Basel?
ReplyDeleteThe colors of your blanket are just perfect and that knitting stich looks beautiful as well.
ReplyDeleteHi Meredith. Love the arrangement as always. Your weekend sounds ideal.
ReplyDeleteWe have been snowed in here in the North West of England, so I spent yesterday making some Peter Pan hats for a birthday party looming (you can see this on my blog). We also palyed in the snow, made snowmen and offcourse vented some frustration with the odd snowball (heehee). Now I have to start weaving in some ends of a crochet picnic blanket in progress, always the worse bit, right?!
Strawberry doughnuts, YUM!! As for the pom poms, I think they look pretty good as a garland, alternatively they could jaz up some kitchen towels. xxx
Hi Meredith, I am new to your blog and I love it. I am new to blogging and I am on Bloglovin and that is how I found you, I am also on twitter and pinterest known as brooklynhousewife. I love that you made the strawberry donuts and your knitted scarf looks great and I love the granny blanket. I also love anything granny and I just completed crocheting a granny rectangle scarf. Take a look at my blog at julieslifestyle.blogspot.com so you can see my scarf and look at my craft day at Brooklyn Craft Camp with Brett Bara and some of my Italian recipes. Take care. Julie x
ReplyDeletePom Poms! Oh i should really get in and do some crochet of my own. I've got a scarf, a beanie, a blanket, some teatowels even, to finish. lovely stuff, lovely stuff. btw I just adore your blog and looking at all the cute things you make.
ReplyDeleteHi Meredith!
ReplyDeleteI'm new to blogging and am excited to start connecting with fellow yarn crafters. I LOVE the colors you used for your granny square blanket! How big is it now? This weekend, I'll be crocheting and knitting quidditch headbands. Progress updates are on my blog:

It's a fun project directly benefiting USC Quidditch. Check it out sometime! Have a great weekend and I can't wait to see what your finished blanket will look like!

Double seed stitch looks yummy
ReplyDeleteI'm about to start a new job so I imagine I'll appreciate Fridays a lot more soon.
ReplyDeleteYou could try hanging your huge blanket up on a washing line for pictures? Or perhaps a fence?! Lots of quilt bloggers use washing lines :)
I love making pom poms - i would love to cover a whole jumper in them.
ReplyDeleteThis weekend I did make a pom pom crown though by threading different sized cream pom poms on to ribbon
